Junior, Esanatoglia-raised Pelucchini wins in Alpago. Paccagnella takes the overall

The rider who lives just a few kilometres from Esanatoglia succeeded in Chies d’Alpago. Federico Bartolini and Hector Hjorth complete the podium. Elian Paccagnella won the overall among the Juniors

He might have whiffed at his home race in Esanatoglia, where he ended in fifth, but Alex Pelucchini made up for it by winning the 2023 Internazionali d’Italia Series finale among Junior Men in Chies d’Alpago, on Saturday 8 July 2023.

The Superbike Bravi Platforms Team attacked during the second lap out of five, and nobody could respond. His advantage didn’t shrink until the finish line, which he crossed in 54:03:78. Behind him, the battle for the podium was won by Federico Bartolini (Bici Adventure Team) finishing second at 11” to the winner, while the third step of the podium was taken by Hector Hjorth (Holte MTB), Danish national cross country vice-champion.

I didn’t get off to a great start, but at the end of the first lap the feeling was good. On the second lap, I attacked and took a reassuring gap that allowed me to manage until the finish. I have trained in Esanatoglia, a few steps from home, until a few days ago. The fifth place I took in the third stage of the Internazionali d’Italia Series gave me confidence after a difficult start to the season, and this victory is the result of that”, Pelucchini said after the finish line.

Thanks to his victories in Esanatoglia and La Thuile, and his second place in San Zeno di Montagna, Elian Paccagnella (Junior Team Südtirol) won the final classification of the Internazionali d’Italia Series. After taking bronze less than twenty-four hours ago in the Team Relay at the UEC MTB Juniores and Under 23 European Championships in Anadia, the South Tyrolean rider added another prestigious result to his palmares, seeing off Gabriel Borre (KTM Protek Elettrosystem) and Diego Milan (ASD Rock Bike Team) in the overall standings.
