Five years after the last time, Internazionali d’Italia Series returns to the Alpago Valley, surrounded by the Venetian Prealps. Here top-notch Cross Country feels at home, and the Mountain Bike is the queen of a territory devoted to nature and mindfulness
There is no doubt that Mountain Bike feels at home in Alpago, surrounded by the Venetian Prealps. Twice the last 20 years, in 2006 and 2015, the valley has hosted the very best of Cross Country with the European Championships, won by Julien Absalon in both occasions.
In 2018, the final round of Internazionali d’Italia Series was the last chance – to date – to see top-class mountain biking in Chies d’Alpago. On Saturday, July 8th, the most prestigious Italian XCO series returns to this land with its 5th and final stage, to highlight the bike-oriented character of this area.
The Alpago Valley, nestled amidst woods, lakes and traditional hamlets, together with the Cansiglio Forest, is a promised land for bike and cycling lovers. It’s no coincidence that many athletes, including amateurs and pro riders, choose this area to train in peace.
The village of Lamosano, headquarter of the Internazionali d’Italia Series event, is the starting point of a magnificent 40 km bike tour between villages and pastures, trails and mule tracks, clearings and woods. The Alpago Valley is a natural amphitheater overlooking the Lake Santa Croce. This course is perfectly suited also for e-MTB, providing a chance for bikers to enjoy thrilling views with a more manageable effort.
Nature and bike lovers will find emotions on the course from the Alpago Valley to the Cansiglio Plateau, including the trail of the Santa Croce Lakes, the climb of Mount Pizzoc and the following flat. Once again, the amazing landscapes will take center stage with the Venetian Dolomites in the background.
Alpago’s bike offer is perfect for a family active weekend while watching the champions attending Internazionali d’Italia Series final stage to be held on Saturday, July 8th. In addition, the youngsters will have the opportunity to take part in the youth races, on Sunday, July 9th, for Rookies and Cadets.
Chies d’Alpago’s schedule starts on Friday, July 7th with the Short Track Italian Championships, whilst Saturday, the Men’s Junior race opens the Internazionali d’Italia Series program at 9.30 AM, followed by the Women’s competitions at 12.00 PM and the Men’s Open race at 3.00 PM.
