Mountain, nature and MTB: La Thuile is the wild side of Mont Blanc

The Internazionali d’Italia Series circus is ready to return to the Alps, at the foot of the highest mountain in Europe. There’s plenty more beyond La Thuile MTB Race (June 3-4): La Thuile delivers a unique experience for bikers, from high-altitude trails to a bike park surrounded by uncontaminated nature

When you think about La Thuile, you think about outdoor sports all year round. The famous ski area in winter turns into a bike – and MTB – playground when the seasons turn around. The tough ascents of Colle San Carlo and Piccolo San Bernardo Pass call for the road cycling lovers, but Mountain Biking provides the access to the wildest side of this destination on the Mont Blanc.

On June 3-4, Internazionali d’Italia Series returns to La Thuile (Aosta Valley) with its champions for a UCI HC event, as do the rising stars of the UCI Junior Series competition. La Thuile MTB Race will be held inside the La Thuile Bike Park, one of Italy’s most natural and entertaining bike parks, which makes the venue so popular also among cross country’s main figures, such as Alan Hatherly and Thomas Litscher.

The season of La Thuile Bike Park will open on June 24-25, with its 220 Km of trails, from the Belvedere area (2600 mt. asl) to the town, located at 1200 meters. The beautiful landscapes, the charm of the Alps, and the uncontaminated nature make La Thuile’s trails even more special.

The Bike Park’s trails are all natural and charted in harmony with the land, providing a flow and exciting riding experience. The trails are highlighted with colors determined by their technical level, and duly signaled. The violet courses in the bike park are specific for e-MTB.

In 2022 La Thuile Bike Park inaugurated a new pump track, realized by Velosoutions and approved by the International Cycling Union. The pump track is part of the Internazionali d’Italia Series course. The novelty of this 2023 season is the new cross-border Italy-France connection, reserved for the Mountain Bike. Equipped with e-MTB charging stations, the new tour will delight the bikers with its steep slopes and winding paths.

Over the years, in addition to hosting Internazionali d’Italia Series, Bike Park La Thuile and the Aosta Valley (Italian sports region for 2023) have also welcomed the Enduro World Series. In 2023, La Thuile will host the Pump Track Italian Championship (June 24-25), the Enduro Italian Championships (July 8-9) and the STIHL Timbersport Italian Championships (July 8-9).

The action-packed program of La Thuile MTB Race commences on Saturday, June 3rd, with the UCI Junior Series race at 10:00 CEST, followed by the Women’s competitions at 12:00 and the Men’s Open Race at 14:00. On Sunday, June 4th, the youth competitions, featuring the Rookies and Cadets categories, will complete the schedule.
