Europe’s top juniors think big at the UCI Junior Series round in La Thuile

The stage is set for an exhilarating showdown as the finest junior mountain bikers from around the World gather for UCI Junior Series stage hosted by Internazionali d’Italia Series’ round 4 in La Thuile on June 3rd. The event will serve as a springboard towards the upcoming European and World Championships

Internazionali d’Italia Series has long been renowned for the iconic performances by mountain biking superstars such as Nino Schurter. However, it also provides a platform for promising young riders to shine, owing to the highly regarded quality of its courses.

Not by chance, two stages of the UCI Junior Series are hosted by Internazionali d’Italia Series events: the first took place in Capoliveri last April, while the second is scheduled to be held in La Thuile on Saturday, June 3rd.

La Thuile MTB Race, stage 4 of Internazionali d’Italia Series, is eagerly awaiting the showcase of these rising stars on a challenging race route designed by Enrico Martello and the technical staff of Bike Park La Thuile.

Notably, the French National Team‘s junior selection will participate in this Italian HC event in full strength, both aiming for a prestigious win and assessing their athletes’ conditions leading up to the forthcoming European and World Championships. La Thuile MTB Race will serve as the pivotal “trials” competition for the French National Team, with the technical directors evaluating the results to determine the squad for both the European Championships in Anadia (Portugal) and the World Championships in Glasgow (Scotland).

An exciting challenge is expected at the UCI Junior Series round in La Thuile: the packed French selection will find plenty of competition, including the likes of Italy’s Diego Milan, Gabriel Borre, and Elian Paccagnella, who are also in the run for Internazionali d’Italia Series’ overall junior crown.

Milan currently leads the classification with 180 points, closely followed by Borre with 161 points and Paccagnella with 140 points. In the Women’s junior category, Elisa Lanfranchi tops the standings with 185 points, while Giulia Rinaldoni follows closely with 145 points.

The action-packed program of La Thuile MTB Race commences on Saturday, June 3rd, with the UCI Junior Series race at 10:00 CEST, followed by the Women’s competitions at 12:00 and the Men’s Open Race at 14:00. On Sunday, June 4th, the youth competitions, featuring the Rookies and Cadets categories, will complete the schedule.
