Siffredi sweeps the Junior Series: stage win and Internazionali crown

The Italian Champion of Team Scott-Libarna raced on the attack to claim both the UCI Junior Series stage at La Thuile MTB Race and the Internazionali d’Italia Series’ overall win among Junior Men

On Saturday, June 26th, La Thuile welcomed the XCO rising stars with a sunny morning and the chilly temperatures typical of the Alpine climate.

The Men’s race of the UCI Junior Series round, the World Cup for the Junior categories, opened La Thuile MTB Race’s program at 10.30 CET. Italian National Champion Matteo Siffredi (Scott-Libarna) smashed the competition for the Internazionali d’Italia Series crown thanks to an offensive tactic, conquering both the UCI Junior Series race and the Internazionali d’Italia Series Junior Men’s crown.

Behind the Italian athlete, German Paul Schehl (NN) and New Zealander Ethan Rose (NZ MTB Academy) rounded out the podium. “I’m happy I won the Internazionali d’Italia Series GC. It’s a dream come true”, said Siffredi.

Rose and Schehl (NN) gained a slight margin in the first lap on a chasing group including Italy’s Siffredi and Agostinacchio (Team Scott-Libarna). Italian National Champion Matteo Siffredi launched his attack in the second lap, bridging back to the lead of the race, whilst Agostinacchio slipped back.

The three leaders faced together the final lap, until Siffredi kicked out and made the difference, soloing to the finish line.
