The Brit sends a message for the Olympic Race. Italian Teocchi claimed the Open Women’s Internazionali d’Italia Series overall win for the third time in her career. Cortinovis completed perfect season among Junior Women
The dominator of the 2019 edition, Brit Evie Richards (Trek Factory Racing), managed the tough feat of repeating on La Thuile MTB Race‘s challenging course.
Aussie Rebecca McConnell (Primaflor-Mondraker) and US Haley Batten (Trinity Racing) rounded out a World-class top-3.
Italian Chiara Teocchi (Trinity Racing), seventh on the day, severed the overall win at Internazionali d’Italia Series in the Open Women category for the third time in her career.
Richards launched the decisive attack in the second of five laps, leaving McConnell and Batten behind. After a fast start, Teocchi slipped back due to a crash without consequences in the rock garden. Nevertheless, the athlete from Bergamo had some breathing room in the overall standings to control the situation and her rivals.
Richards set with an unsustainable pace, launching a significant message in view of the Olympic race in Tokyo. McConnell crossed the finish line 2 minutes behind the winner. Giada Specia (KTM Protek Dama) was the best Italian on the day, in fourth place.
Sara Cortinovis (Four ES Racing) secured the fifth victory among Junior Women, completing an impressive clean sweep of the Internazionali d’Italia Series’ rounds. The Italian rider preceded on the finish line the Germans Sina Van Thiel (RSC Kempten) and Kaya Pfau (Kaya Pfau Team).
