Nals, JR Men: Boichis stamps his authority in Junior Series race

Internazionali d’Italia Series’ stage 3 in Nals started with a new success of the French youngster. Agostinacchio maintains the lead

Italy had already got to know him a month ago in Andora, when he had managed to leave everybody behind as favorite. In Nals, Frenchman Adrien Boichis (Team Passion VTT Venelles) proved that it was certainly no fluke: racing with bib number 1 in the first seasonal round of the UCI Junior Series (the Junior World Cup), the French was first also on the finish of a race he practically led from start to finish.

From the launch lap, a small group of five athletes emerged, that would have occupied the lead position throughout the whole race: in addition to Boichis, fellow Frenchman Axel Pourriere (Team Passion VTT Venelles), Dutchmen Tom Schellekens (Hobij Vittoria Team) and Chris Van Dijk (Team Talented), and Italian Filippo Agostinacchio (Scott Libarna), overall Junior leader of the Internazionali d’Italia Series.

In the second lap, Boichis got rid of the competition in a steady crescendo, and finally managed his gap in the final loop to finish with an 11-second lead over Van Dijk and 24 over Schellekens. Fourth place for Pourriere (+0.39) and fifth for Agostinacchio (+0.54), who thus managed to keep the leader’s jersey by just one point on Boichis himself.
