The Norwegian Champion attended the opening of a new MTB training park in Nals, where she is looking to achieve her sixth win at Marlene Südtirol Sunshine Race on Sunday. Lapierre’s latest models on test in the weekend in Südtirol
This is arguably a bike-dedicated week in Nals, Italy. In the view of the 17th Marlene Südtirol Sunshine Race, 4th stage of Internazionali d’Italia Series, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, April 8th and 9th, a new MTB training park was inaugurated in Nals on Wednesday April 5th: a dedicated area for the riders of all ages, meant to train and improve the handling skills on mountain bike.
The opening of the new park, that features a rock garden, a dual slalom, severak dirt lines with differentiated jumps, a flow line and a pump track, was attended, among others, by Bozen’s Sports Assessor Martha Stocker, Bozen’s Sports and Health office director Armin Hoelzl, the mayor of Nals Ludwig Busetti, Sunshine Racers ASV Nals President Florian Pallweber, and also a special patronness.
Indeed, Norwegian legend Gunn-Rita Dahle (Team Merida Gunn-Rita) not only took part in the opening of the new park, but wanted to test it personally, with enthusiastic feebacks: “This is an amazing practice park. There are several different structures and obstacles to train and improve handling skills, and do it in full safety. I tested it personally, and it’s really a lot of fun: I wish I had something like this close to my home when I was a kid starting to ride MTB!”
The Olympic Champion of Athens 2004, eight-time World Champion between Cross Country and Marathon, has reached Nals along with her family after the Montichiari race, where she finished third, in order to prepare for the fourth stage of Internazionali d’Italia Series. “Nals is one of my favorite places: I love the atmosphere, the people, and the many opportunities to enjoy MTB in the area. This time I also have my family with me, and my son is already in love with the new pump track. To share a place you love with your dearest people, enjoying the MTB passion that is such a big part of our family’s lifestyle, is pretty special.”
Holding the record of Marlene Sudtirol Sunshine Race victories with five, Dahle perfectly knows the circuit’s difficulties: “The Nals’ circuit is so different from Montichiari, with a long climb that will test us on an intense effort. It will be very important in the view of the World Cup start in May.”
“The Nals’ race – told the 44-year-old Norwegian – has given me huge satisfactions in the past. I guess I can’t shy out from the favorite role with this palmares, but I will have to deal with Linda Indergand, who was flying last Sunday in Montichiari. Anyway, lots of things can happen in our sport.”
LAPIERRE BIKES ON TEST IN NALS
It will be MTB fun for everyone in Sudtirol on Saturday and Sunday, with a new park for everybody to discover, the champions racing for the podium spots, and with Lapierre, that will bring in the area Expo 12 bikes – e-bike, road and MTB – to test for free. A valuable opportunity to personally state all the quality of the French brand’s bikes.
