The rain made the return of the mountain bike in Milan even more spectacular.
The track drawn on Monte Stella entertained more than 800 athletes competing in Internazionali d’Italia Series second stage and realized an unforgettable show for the many fans who have reached Montagnetta di San Siro taking advantage of the festive day.
Youth categories animated the morning and saw the triumph of Yannick Parisi and Giulia Challancin of Pila Bike Planet (Beginners 1st year), Giulio Viscardi from ASD Alpin Bike Edilbi and Marta Zanga from ASD Team Bramati (Beginners 2nd year), Davide Zanoletti from Team Bike Rocks and Letizia Motalli from ASD Alpin Bike Edilbi (1st year students), Zaccaria Toccoli of Team Lapierre Trentino and Nicole Fede of Cadrezzate Verso l’Iride (2nd year students). For them in addition to the rich prizes offered by the sponsors of the race, could not miss a well deserved Easter egg.
It has been a winning Easter Monday in the Junior category for Swiss Vital Albin (Solothurn Bike Team) and Sweden’s Ida Jansson (Team Lapierre Sweden Falu), who dominated their respective races.
The culmination of this Monday full of emotions arrived with the Open competitions, for which the sky cleared up and left out the sun. Among women has clearly won the Swedish Jenny Rissveds from Scott Odlo MTB Racing Team, who was better of the British Evie Richards (49″) and of the Swiss Kathrin Stirnemann (1’53”).
«I’m surprised, but happy. The course was technical, the ground slippery. It was an intense race, it was all up and down, right and left, I have enjoyed it. I took the lead from start to avoid any risk, after the first part in the company of Stirnemann I forced uphill to be alone and I managed my gap. There was so many people, the Italian fans were awesome, in Milan today there was really a special atmosphere» said the queen of the pink race, at her seasonal debut.
The men’s race show an exciting challenge of three men with victory in the sprint of World Champion Nino Schurter (Scott Odlo MTB Racing Team) in front of home idol Marco Aurelio Fontana (Cannondale Factory Racing) and Frenchman Stephane Tempier (Bianchi Countervail) detached from the first two of 13″».
«With Marco it was a good battle. At the beginning I suffered a bit, this winter I trained well, but I lacked the racing overspeed. The circuit was full of short and steep up and downs. In the end I was the fastest, but we really came close. I liked a lot to race in the city, our sport has to go in this direction. I have a close relationship with Italy, I train often in Tuscany, I’m glad I started my 2016 from here» said the Swiss, before getting out of the fans for autographs and pictures.
Great satisfaction for the success of the event has been expressed by the organization supervised by Novagli Team Bike, by representatives of the Italian Cycling Federation, the City of Milan and Lombardy Region.
After two stages Chiara Teocchi (Bianchi Countervail) and Marco Aurelio Fontana confirmed leader of the Italian International Series between the Open, in the junior category the best are Martina Berta (Sixs Devinci Pro Team) and Nico Eichemberger (Swiss National Team).
