Capoliveri (Elba Island, Tuscany) is ready to welcome Internazionali d’Italia Series for the second year in a row, on Monday, April 18th. 2016 Olympic Champion Jenny Rissveds leads the women’s field, Braidot and Colledani the favorites among men

Sun is shining over the Internazionali d’Italia Series at Elba Island, where the third round of the most important Italian Cross Country challenge, Capoliveri Legend XCO, will take place tomorrow.

Tomorrow, on Monday, April 18th, it will be only the second edition of the Italian race, but it didn’t hold back the event from rising to the HC status.

The youth competitions of Saturday, April 16th and the Master races of today, Sunday, April 17th represented an enjoyable preview of the big show scheduled on Easter Monday when the pro riders of the Juniors and Open categories will take the center stage on a technical course (4,5 Km and 170 meters of elevation gain for each lap) located at the foot of the Mount Calamita.

Nadir Colledani took a prestigious success in Internazionali d’Italia Series’ stage 2 in Nals (South Tyrol) but his desire to win has not been affected: tomorrow, the MMR Factory Racing rider will have a great opportunity to claim his second seasonal win at Internazionali d’Italia Series.

This time, no rain is expected on the Italian Champion’s way, but the Italian National Champion sure counts on greater confidence after his top spot at Marlene Südtirol Sunshine Race.

Luca Braidot (Team Santa-Cruz) and series leader Gioele Bertolini (Trinx Factory Team) are expected to be the two main rivals of the fellow Italian, whilst youngster Simone Avondetto (Wilier-Pirelli) will try to surprise as well as Swiss Andri Frischknecht (SCOTT-Sram).

2016 Olympic Champion Jenny Rissveds (Team 31) will make her seasonal debut at Capoliveri Legend XCO, and she will no doubt at the center of the attention.

The Swede champion is expected to compete for the top positions with Italian veteran Eva Lechner (Trinx Factory Team), her compatriot Martina Berta (Team Santa Cruz-FSA), and two-more Italian riders, youngsters Sara Cortinovis (Team Santa Cruz-FSA) and Internazionali d’Italia Series leader Giada Specia (Wilier-Pirelli).

Cortinovis and Specia stepped on the podium of the Women’s U23 race in the first stage of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Petropolis (Brazil).

In the Junior Men’s race, the opening of Monday’s program at 10.00 CET, Marco Betteo (Scott-Libarna) will find solid opponents on his way such as Switzerland’s Yanick Binz (Bike Team Solothurn) and Sven Gerig (VMC Erstfeld)

Internazionali d’Italia Series’ leader Sophie Auer (Junior Team Südtirol) will try to defend her jersey from San Zeno di Montagna’s winner Valentina Corvi (Team Trinx) and the assault of Switzerland’s Lea Huber and Monique Halter (Swiss National Team).

Capoliveri Legend XCO’s program starts with Junior Men at 10.00 CET, followed by the Women’s races (Junior and Open) at 12.00, whilst the Open Men’s race will clinch the day from 14:00.

On Monday night, an extended highlight of Internazionali d’Italia Series stage 3 will be aired at 21:00 PM of Internazionali d’Italia Series’ Facebook and Youtube official channels.
